Day Camp – Dog Day Training Academy

Bringing Out the Best in Your Dog

Do you want to bring out the best in your dog? Then dog day training is for you.  With dog day training, you can make the most out of the time your pup gets to spend at K9 University in Chicago with the major benefit of being able to take him or her home the same day.  Instead of booking your dog in for dog boarding, you can get a comprehensive day of training that can teach your dog everything from basic obedience to interesting tricks.

In this personalized training, through socialization and private one-on-one, we can also help you address any particular behavioral challenges you want to address and provide you daily communication, pictures, and video for you to view the dog’s progress.  We’ll give you pointers to successfully continue to reinforce the behaviors taught in Day camp at home for long term success.  Your dog comes home happy, well behaved, and with new tricks.

Puppy Day Training

Our dog day training is ideal for adult dogs as well as puppies. Many people prefer the dog day training option as it provides an economical solution to getting the right coaching for you and your pup. As a multi-faceted dog training facility, K9 University has incorporated all the important lessons taught in our puppy training and obedience lessons into our dog day training.

If you are the owner of a puppy, for example, our trainers will train your pup according to the principles that have been known to help puppies 10 weeks to 5 months old with basic obedience, manners, and socialization. These classes will ensure that these very young DOG DAY CAMP students become happy, healthy, polite, and housebroken pets that you can be proud of.

For older dogs, our basic obedience dog training techniques are used to teach the basic skills such as sit, down, stay, come, watch, touch, and leave it. Depending on your unique needs, we can incorporate training from learning manners (for example proper leash behavior and barking) to managing distractions.

In Day Camp, as well as in all our training programs, we use positive behavioral training techniques to build your puppy or adult dog manners and confidence.

Frequently Asked Questions

The trick to potty training your dog in 7 days is to have reasonable expectations for a puppy. Start by taking potty breaks every hour or two. Offer treats for your dog when they go potty outside. Go back inside if they don’t need to go.
House training a dog in 7 days is possible if you remember a few things. First, use treats as a reward for going outside. Second, save playtime for after your dog goes outside. Lastly, especially overnight, be boring when you go out, so they don’t want to play.
For dogs, training is a lot like play. You can get moments of training in throughout the day. You don’t need to stop everything you’re doing to train your dog each day. Instead use times like going potty outside, eating time and leash time to train your dog.

Victoria Comerford

Victoria Comerford

Dog Trainer

Victoria (Tori) Comerford

A Chicagoland native with a degree in Zoology from SIU, Carbondale, Tori comes to K9U Chicago with a diverse background caring for and understanding animals. This has provided her with the experience to not only train dogs but teach owners how to positively strengthen the bond they have with their dog.

Tori believes in the power of communication as a valuable skill that helps dogs become secure and well socialized. This starts with understanding dog body language and the subtle cues they send to express their feelings of fear, confusion, frustration and joy. Her work as a trainer starts with sharing this knowledge through fun games and exercises that allow dogs the chance to fundamentally be dogs while nurturing and rewarding new behaviors.

Tori has experience working with all types of dog breeds and families who have needs that range from welcoming new puppies to older dogs with specific challenges including reactivity and other behaviors that require training to desensitize the dogs to certain objects, noises or other dogs.

Tori will be teaching all levels of obedience training as well as working with daycare day train clients, our board & train camps and providing private training sessions.

Why Our Clients Love Us

K9 University is great. We’ve been going there for 7 and a half years. We’ve done training, we’ve done agility, we’ve done boarding and we’ve done daycare. The only thing we haven’t done is a drop off and pick up. My dog is kind of a nut and they deal with her well. Debbie W.
I was referred by a previous customer. I had never used a daycare before and my experience has been wonderful since day ONE! The staff is friendly, welcoming and attentive to my dog (and me…LOL)…She loves going there.Tracee A.
My dog has experienced everything at K9U: daycare, classes and boarding. When he is either picked up by the K9U van or dropped off his tail is wagging like crazy. When I pick him up he is happy to see me, goes outside to relieve himself and then pulls to go back in.Jane F.
I’ve been a customer for 15 years and counting. K9 helped us raise our puppies and cherish our old girls. I can think of no other place I would trust more with my furry family.Jonathan A.
This is really awesome dog place. We had a basic obedience training here, and our dog is changed! She listens now, and behaving well, our trainer is really good - she is like a dog whisperer. Love and recommend this place for all dog parents out there.Yessie S.
K9U is great. They offer classes as well as day camp /sitting services. The size of the location is pretty impressive, as they have a large indoor and outdoor areas for dogs to play. (They even pick up and drop off your dog.). The staff and trainers are very friendly and extremely effective.James J.
