Boarding & Daycare for Reactive or Aggressive Dogs

K9U Chicago is one of the oldest and largest dog care facilities in Chicago. We offer over 29,000 feet of indoor and outdoor play area. We work with aggressive dogs, AKA reactive dogs, and have separate parks and play areas based on the temperament of the pets we care for. Our staff is highly trained and has extensive experience managing pet daycare facilities and animal hospitals.

At K9U, all dogs are welcome. We offer fun, interactive high-touch experiences for dogs of all sizes, breeds, and temperaments. We provide services, one-on-one personalized care, and activities that encourage socialization, playtime, and fun.

The size of our facility sets us apart from other daycare centers. We offer 20,000 square feet of outdoor space and 14,000 square feet of indoor space. This includes a designated 11,000 square foot outdoor grassy yard and 7,000 square feet of indoor space where dogs can engage in a variety of activities.

We offer several one-on-one activities for your dog to enjoy. These include treadmill, fetching, tugging frisbee and agility courses.

Coming soon, we will also have a separate entrance and exit for aggressive dogs ensuring pets and their owners can experience optimal safety.

An Experienced and Caring Team

K9U is staffed with a caring and experienced team that understands and gets your dog. We aim to provide a safe, fun environment for your pet with a focus on advanced socializing. We offer structured activities that take place under the supervision of our staff members. This means each dog is being kept under a watchful eye as he or she engages in fun sessions with other members.

Evaluation of Dog Behavior, Temperament and Needs

At K9U, we understand that every dog is different. We take notes on their behavior, temperament needs and behavior. We may recommend that your pup spend a day with a trainer. This may be done while they are in our care, or we may set aside a couple of hours for a special evaluation.

Once we determine what makes them tick, we can come up with a plan that is best suited to their needs.

Specific Individualized Activities for Reactive Dogs

Although we care for all dogs, we also specialize in reactive dogs. We understand they often act out because they are scared, unsocialized or protective. We provide a comfortable atmosphere for them to get used to people and other dogs.

We commonly refer to reactive dogs as “indos”. This is because we start them off with individual activities as opposed to group activities. They are provided with structure, physical activity and personalized care which is beneficial in helping them adjust. It gives them a safe space to play and engage with other dogs in a respectful manner.

There are several activities that can be included in individualized training for aggressive or reactive dogs. These include:

• Agility exercises using A-frames, tunnels, and hurdles
• Fetching with a frisbee or tennis ball
• Treadmill exercise
• Rope toy tugging
• Using Fit Paws equipment
